BERGÖ is the biggest island and the only one with permanent population in the archipelago of Malax. The island is located about 60 kilometers south of Vaasa. For the population in this archipelago village it´s for natural reasons fishing and shipping that have been and are the biggest income resource. By working with a number of different profession, the population of Bergö can remain on their island, which have no communication by road with the mainland.

You come to Bergö with ferry. The crossing takes about 10 minutes.

Bergö is a typical archipelago locality, located west from Malax. In summertime bay and cape, small fields and beutiful house yards turn in green. Bergö is a holiday paradise with glorious archipelago natur, fresh air and clean fresh water.

At the end of September, a yearly arranged archipelago market is held, where localy produced food products and handicrafts draw visitors from near and far.

On the way to Bergö you pass Molpe windpower on Bredskär. The windpowers (named Bella, Ella, Hella and Stella) have become an attraction. It provides small local companies with electric power.

Attractions: Bergö church (1800 - 1802), Local history museum (which include Klockargården),
Rönnskär, Strömmingsbådan, Norrskär, fishing village, the archipelago.

Camping/recreation: Seabath and camping ground at Norrsund.
